Thinking of buying or selling your home or property? The purpose of home inspections and the intentions of the home inspector have been largely misunderstood over the years. The main purpose of a home inspection is to give you the best information needed to make a confident decision on what could be your largest purchase and asset.

HHPS offers thorough and quality home inspections while understanding the sensitivity, stress and anxiety of the entire purchase or selling process. All of our inspections follow the InterNachi (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) Standards of Practice. Every inspection includes visual checks for mold and asbestos, including moisture intrusion detection with sensitive moisture metering equipment, gas & carbon monoxide leaks with gas and CO detectors.

We are FLIR certified in thermal imaging, carry moisture & CO detection meters.

We take the time to get to know you, your situation, and your concerns to ensure that you are well taken care of throughout the entire inspection process. We work for YOU, the buyer or seller and not the realtor or builder! It is our responsibility to learn as much as possible about the property and translate everything to you in a clear, unbiased manner. All of your questions will be answered and the information we provide will help you make the right choice in a home or property. We really are passionate about properties and enjoy teaching all there is to know about property ownership and preventative maintenance to maximize the value of your investment.

HHPS is capable of providing an option of a more time efficient home inspection by having two highly experienced home inspectors on site. One of our inspectors has over 8 years of experience and has completed over a thousand inspections and the other is a Certified Master Inspector (CMI).

HHPS is licensed with Service Alberta and follows all regulations and legislation required by the government of Alberta. HHPS also follows all standards of practice and code of ethics set out by InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors). For a list of the standards and what to expect from a home inspection, please see the links below:

Pre-list Home Inspection – Eliminate Any Surprises Before Selling

This is a perfect opportunity to discover any surprises your home may have been hiding from you before putting it up for sale. Potential buyers of your home will have a home inspection conducted prior to the purchase and you want to make sure you’re prepared for anything that may come up. This inspection will highlight any deficiencies you may need to correct before selling your home. An inspection report with a recommendation checklist is compiled for repairs, general maintenance and preventative maintenance. Making necessary repairs and listing a well maintained home for sale will help you get top dollar for your house or property.

Pre-purchase Home Inspection – Priceless Education on a Large Purchase

It makes good sense to do thorough research on any costly purchases to fully understand what it is you’re buying and that you’re getting the best value for your money. Purchasing a house is no different. Whether a home for you and your family or an investment property, let HHPS do all of the investigative research on all major mechanical, electrical and structural systems, inspect the condition of the roof and attic, and check for proper water shedding. We even test all included appliances to ensure they’re functional as it’s never safe to assume. “Ass-u-me”

We make sure to explain how everything operates within the house and how to maintain it, including tips and preventative maintenance for future cost savings. Most importantly, we make sure you are 100% comfortable in making the big decision and that you have all of the information you need.

We inspect: Attached and detached houses, Multi Dwelling Units, Apartment Condo, Townhouse, Mobile Homes, Acreages, Outbuildings and everything from shacks to mansions.

New House Pre-purchase Inspection – Buyer Beware, it Could Have Flaws

With so many homebuilders out there, it’s difficult to know which ones are good and which ones aren’t. Even the “good” homebuilders have potential flaws or make mistakes, as human error is always possible. We have found some pretty interesting stuff over the years like missing attic insulation, holes in roofs that were never repaired and even vertical stress cracks in a brand new foundation due to an incorrectly prepared concrete footing.

Home Warranty Inspection – Before Your Warranty Period is Over

For new homebuyers the one-year warranty period can be very stressful. HHPS can provide an inspection report with a deficiency list for the homebuilder to fix or address. HHPS gives you peace of mind knowing that professional home inspectors can help you by having every deficiency in your new home repaired by the homebuilder.

Property Check-up Inspection – The Importance of Property Maintenance

Have you owned a house or property for a while and haven’t been so diligent with the maintenance? Are you curious to know the current condition of your property or how to prevent high maintenance costs? HHPS can also help you differentiate cosmetic repairs versus urgent repairs. We’re on your side to help you spot any small repairs now that could save you BIG repair costs in the future. Property managers should have property check-up inspections done every 3-5 years in addition to the move in/move out inspections. These property check-up inspections include the condition of the interior plus all major operational systems as per InterNACHI’s Residential Standards of Practice and check the roof, exterior, interior, foundation, basement, fireplace, attic, insulation, ventilation, doors, windows, heating system, cooling system, plumbing system, and electrical system for certain defects. A full report with plenty of pictures, recommended repairs and preventative maintenance tips are all included.
